Visual:
Inland Revenue’s logo appears with a sentence below it ‘Next year, subject to law change, the end of year tax process is changing. Here’s what it could mean for you.’

Audio:
Sam has two jobs; a gym instructor in the day and working behind a bar at night.

Visual:
Gym scene appears with a man amongst gym equipment - he is training someone in the gym. This scene fades out and reveals a new scene where the same character is working in a bar.

Audio:
Sam completes the tax code declaration form for both his jobs, using the same M tax code for both jobs.

Visual:
A vertically split screen view of both gym and bar environments appears. Two circles containing the letter “M” inside them pulse up.

Audio:
Sam’s employers deduct PAYE every fortnight and everyone thinks they are doing the right thing and that Sam is paying the right amount of tax. He should in fact be using a tailored tax code for one of his jobs.

Visual:
Circles containing the letter “M” inside them change out for “P.A.Y.E”. Then the circle on the right-hand side environment (the bar) swaps out for a new circle containing “S”.

Audio:
From next year Inland Revenue will receive more timely employment information. They quickly notice that Sam isn’t paying enough tax and if he carries on paying that amount he will get a bill to pay at the end of the year.

Visual:
A new split scene appears. Sam is in his lounge environment on the left and an Inland Revenue desk scene is on the right. We see small information circles pop out of Sam’s computer and move across the split screen to the Inland Revenue desk environment – they disappear into the computer in the Inland Revenue desk scene. A “!” mark appears in a red circle above the head of the person in the Inland Revenue desk scene. Then from behind this circle a “$” slides out.

Audio:
IR contacts Sam to let him know they will change one of his tax codes to suit his circumstances best. They also contact one of his employers and let them know his code is changing, otherwise he will end up not paying enough tax and get a bill to pay.

Visual:
Yellow arrows slide out form the Inland Revenue desk scene back across the split screen to the lounge scene where Sam is sitting. This left side lounge scene then swaps out for Sam’s Bar job scene – arrows are still pulsing across. When yellow arrows stop pulsing across the screen, a new green circle with an “S” pulses up in Sam’s bar scene.

Audio:
Sam is very relieved as the last thing he wants is to get a bill at the end of the year.

Visual:
Bar scene slides across to the right, covering the entire screen.

Audio:
Now he can carry on helping people stay healthy in the day and happily serve customers at night without having to worry about paying the right amount of tax.

Visual:
We finally return to the original two job split scene view.
